One Stop Business Portal (OSB) is a website through which existing and start-up businesses can conduct business with various state agencies, such as the Department of Financial Institutions, the Department of Workforce Development and the Department of Revenue. The goal of the Portal is to make it easier for Wisconsin businesses to deal with multiple state agencies, thereby increasing efficiency and improving the accountability of state government.
OSB Frequently Asked Questions
What transactions are available through the One Stop Business Portal?
The Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) has partnered with the One Stop Business Portal to streamline the filing of certain types of annual reports. Effective Jan. 3, 2017, Domestic Business Corporations, Domestic Close Corporations and Domestic Limited Liability Companies will be required to file their annual reports online through the
One Stop Business Portal. You may also file Articles of Incorporation/Organization for Domestic Business Corporations, Domestic Statutory Close Corporations, Domestic Service Corporations and Domestic Limited Liability Companies. Over time, other DFI transactions may be transitioned to the Portal.
Can businesses that are not Domestic Business Corporations, Domestic Close Corporations or Domestic Limited Liability Companies file annual reports through the One Stop Business Portal?
No, Those business entities will continue to file their annual reports by going through the DFI Website.
Will I still receive notification from DFI that my annual report is due?
Yes. On a quarterly basis, DFI will continue to notify business entities by U.S. Postal Service that their annual reports are due in the following calendar quarter. In addition, if you log onto the One Stop Business Portal using a WAMS ID (see below for more information), you will receive e-mail notifications from the Portal regarding the filing of future annual reports.
What if I am not sure of my business entity type and go to the wrong website?
No worries. If you attempt to file your annual report through the One Stop Business Portal and you are not a Domestic Business Corporation, a Domestic Close Corporation or a Domestic Limited Liability Company, you will be automatically redirected to the DFI website. Likewise, if you attempt to file an annual report for a Domestic Business Corporation, a Domestic Close Corporation or a Domestic Limited Liability Company through the DFI website, you will be automatically redirected to the One Stop Business Portal website.
Do I need to have a special log-in to use the One Stop Business Portal?
No. You can file an annual report by visiting the Portal, clicking on "I Want To" and then clicking on "File Annual Report".
I noticed that the Portal offers a feature called "WAMS ID". What is a WAMS ID and how can it help me?
WAMS ID stands for Wisconsin Access Management System Identification. WAMS is a log-in feature provided through the State of Wisconsin. You can sign up for free at
https://on.wisconsin.gov/WAMS/home. Once you set up a WAMS account and log in to the One Stop Business Portal with your WAMS ID, the system will automatically store your annual reports and business entity formations in a personalized Dashboard, so you can easily pick up where you left off, and see what you have done in the past. WAMS IDs are by definition issued for a single person and are not to be shared with others.
