Visitor Information

​​​​​​​​​​The Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) is located in the Hill Farms State Office Building on Madison's west side.The DFI reception area is on the building's fourth floor in the north tower​​, which requires security access. Visitors will need to check in at the security desk on the building's first floor lobby and receive a visitor security badge before proceeding to the fourth floor. The Hill Farms State Office Building and parking garage are non-smoking facilities.

Appointments

When visiting the DFI, please plan to:

  • Allow up to 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment for parking and making your way to the DFI reception desk on the fourth floor of the north tower of the Hill Farms State Office Building.
  • Use the main entrance of the building (across from the parking garage) and follow signs to the security desk of the north tower.
  • Check in at the security desk on the first floor lobby and receive your visitor access badge.
  • Scan your visitor badge and enter through the security turnstile leading to the north tower elevators.
  • Take the elevators to the DFI reception area on the fourth floor.

Directions and Transportation

​​In Madison: Travel west along University Avenue, turn left onto Gardner Road. Turn right onto Madison Yards Way. Enter the parking garage to the left. Once in the parking garage, continue to the Hill Farms State Office Building by exiting through the parking garage's northeast doors located by the elevators. Cross Madison Yards Way. Enter the Hill Farms State Office Building's main entrance located on the east ​​side of the building. For directions to the parking garage, use the Hill Farms State Office Building's address: 4822 Madison Yards Way, Madison, WI. Note: Guest drop-off is available at the front of the north entrance to the parking garage, as well as in front of the south entrance to the parking garage.

From the Wes​t/Middleton: Travel east along University Avenue, turn right onto Whitney Way. Take a left onto Old Middleton Road. Madison Yards Way is the second road on the right. Once in the parking garage, access the Hill Farms State Office Building by exiting through the parking garage's northeast doors located by the elevators. Cross Madison Yards Way. Enter the Hill Farms State Office Building's main entrance located on the east side of the building. For directions to the parking garage, use the Hill Farms State Office Building's address: 4822 Madison Yards Way, Madison, WI. From the Beltline (US 12/14): Exit north onto Whitney Way. Drive two miles and take a right onto Old Middleton Road. Madison Yards Way is the second road on the right. Once in the parking garage, access the Hill Farms State Office Building by exiting through the parking garage's northeast doors located by the elevators. Cross Madison Yards Way. Enter the Hill Farms State Office Building's main entrance located on the east side of the building. For directions to the parking garage, use the Hill Farms State Office Building's address: 4822 Madison Yards Way, Madison, WI. Note: Guest drop-off is available in front of the north entrance to the parking garage, as well as at the front of the south entrance to the parking garage.

Walking Paths: There are two walking paths – one from Sheboygan Avenue along the west side of the parking garage connecting the Sheboygan Avenue bus stop to Madison Yards Way and building access. The other walking path is off Old Middleton Road, past the loading dock area and around the south tower.

Parking

Vehicle, motorcycle, and moped parking is available on neighborhood side streets and in the eight level parking garage conveniently located across from the north and south towers of the Hill Farms State Office Building. 

  • The parking garage is open for public access Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Central Time​, excluding these office closure dates.
  • There are two entrances and exits to the parking garage – on the north and west ends, accessible via Madison Yards Way and Sheboygan Avenue.
  • Parking garage stalls for visitors are located on the first floor of the parking garage. Visitor stalls are labeled.
  • Handicap visitor parking is located on the first floor of the parking garage. There is also limited, free handicap visitor parking at the front of the Hill Farms State Office Building on Madison Yards Way and in the east lot adjacent to the building.
  • Mopeds should be parked in the parking garage. Mopeds may not park in the bicycle rack areas.

Hill Farms State Office Building Parking Garage Rates

There will be an hourly parking fee after the initial 30-minute free period. Visitors may pay by credit card at exit or pay at a pay station at the first floor parking garage elevator lobby.

  • First 30 minutes - Free
  • Per Hour - $2.00
  • Daily Rate - $12.00
  • Lost Ticket Fee - $25.00

Bikes

Free bike parking is available in two locations, including:

  • Covered bike racks in the ground level, northeast corner of the parking garage.
  • Open bike racks by the east side entrance of the Hill Farms State Office Building.
