College Savings & Career Planning General Information

Housed within the Department of Financial Institution’s Office of Financial Capability, the Wisconsin 529 College Savings Program and the College Affordability Program work to prepare Wisconsin families for the cost of higher education by helping them to develop a well-rounded paying-for-school strategy. This includes encouraging families to begin saving for a child’s post-secondary education as early as possible with one of Wisconsin’s 529 college savings plans, Edvest 529 and/or Tomorrow’s Scholar, and connecting students, parents, and educators to resources that can assist in planning for post-secondary education and address student loan debt.

The Office of Financial Capability team brings together financial literacy, financial wellness and security, college affordability, and the Wisconsin 529 College Savings Program to help advance a savings mindset for all Wisconsinites throughout every life stage. For more information on how the Office of Financial Capability is working to strengthen Wisconsin's financial future, download the OFC Programs & Initiatives Overview and Infographic.
