File a Wisconsin Consumer Act Complaint

​​​​​​​​​The Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions handles complaints regarding consumer credit transactions from Wisconsin residents or those that are against non-depository financial companies located in Wisconsin. If your question/complaint does not meet these conditions please contact the consumer protection agencies in your state.

To file a complaint, use any of the options below:

  • Submit your complaint electronically by using this online​ form​.  Use this option if you don't have attachments to file with your complaint.​

  • Submit your complaint via email by using this online email template to ​e-mail your complaint​.  You may attach supporting documents to your email​.

  • Submit your complaint via postal mail by using this complaint form (Form BCA500).

  • The ​Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) handles complaints against credit bureaus, student loan servicers, some prepaid debit cards, cryptocurrency, unlicensed money transfers​, some national banks, and business-to-business complaints at ConsumerFinance.gov​.

  • The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) handles complaints for victims of internet crime at IC3.gov.

  • To report fraud, submit a report to The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.

  • The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) handles complaints against federal credit unions at MyCreditUnion.gov.

  • The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) handles complaints against national banks, federal savings banks, and federal savings and loan associations at HelpWithMyBank.gov
