Discrimination Based on Sex or Marital Status in the Granting of Credit
As you are undoubtedly aware, Wis. Stat. s. 138.20 was created and became effective on August 3, 1973; it prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex or marital status in the granting or extension of credit. This letter will serve to remind you that adequate files should be maintained to enable this office to fully investigate any and all complaints alleging violations of the above cited statute. You will also note that the statute provides for a severe monetary penalty in case of violation. This office urges strict compliance with the statute and will exert every effort toward achieving such compliance.
